The Challenge

As part of a system upgrade at SplashMania Waterpark in Gamuda Cove, the client required a concrete floor opening to install a new pump system to upgrade the water delivery to the park’s slide attractions. The client planned to hack the floor by themselves, however due to the 410mm thick reinforced concrete, it would take a long time to hack. The work also needs to be carried out in a high-traffic area during active operations.

Our Approach & Result

To meet the demands of both safety and speed, diamond wire saw was used to deliver clean, vibration-free cuts through the reinforced concrete, making it ideal for live environments. The floor opening was completed in just 3 hours, cutting 70% of the turnaround time compared to traditional hacking. All work was carried out while operations continued as usual—no disruption to visitors of the waterpark or surrounding structures.

Gamuda Cove’s SplashMania is one of Malaysia’s latest and most exciting waterparks. To improve its slide performance and support an upgrade to its pumping system, a new manhole installation was required. But a section of reinforced concrete floor had to be opened for the upgrade.

The client initially considered removing the slab using manual hacking. However, upon discovering that the concrete floor was reinforced and measured 410mm thick, it would be time-consuming, noisy, and dusty, especially with the park still operating. The goal was to complete the work within 3 days, but traditional methods risked exceeding this timeframe and disturbing guests due to excessive dust and vibration.

We were then engaged to carry out the work for our diamond wire saw. It performs a clean, controlled cut with minimal dust, noise and vibration, making it ideal for the park’s operation and public safety. From setup to completion, the entire job took only 3 hours, 70% faster than traditional hacking.

By choosing the right technology and a skilled team, the client was able to maintain business as usual while upgrading their infrastructure, a perfect example of precision through innovation.
