The Challenge

AEON Tebrau planned to install new covered parking bays equipped with rooftop solar panels. To support the structure, columns needed to be anchored into the existing rooftop parking slab. However, the client needed to avoid any risk of drilling into the post-tension (PT) cables or embedded rebar.

Our Approach & Result

With our Xradar™ enhanced non-destructive concrete scanning technology, we conducted 800 scanning points across AEON Tebrau’s rooftop parking. The scan mapped out the precise location of PT cables, rebar, and other embedded elements, helping the client avoid any structural damage during the drilling and column installation process. All scanning work was completed within just 5 days.

The largest AEON in Malaysia, AEON Tebrau is planning for a green energy upgrade by installing solar panels above its rooftop parking area. The plan involved building a covered structure to house the panels, with multiple support columns to be drilled and anchored into the existing slab. But the team needed a non-invasive way to avoid damaging post-tension cables or rebar beneath the surface when drilling.

We were brought in to carry out high-precision concrete scanning across the designated column locations. Using Xradar™, we mapped 800 scanning points on the AEON Tebrau rooftop parking. This helps to ensure the installation of solar panels will be safe and will not damage the structure’s integrity.

The entire scanning process was completed in just 5 days without interfering with mall operations. With the scanning data, the client was able to move forward confidently with column installation with the groundwork layinghe for the upcoming solar panel integration.
