We were honoured to participate once again in Seminar Cawangan Jalan 2026, organised by Jabatan Kerja Raya (JKR) Malaysia, themed “Breaking Barriers in Road Projects”. The seminar brought together engineers, contractors, and technical professionals to address real challenges in road infrastructure development in design, construction, safety, compliance, and innovation.
Addressing Barriers in Modern Road Projects
Road infrastructure today faces increasing pressure. Aging bridges, widening highways, rising traffic loads, and climate-related stresses requires smarter intervention strategies.
At this year’s event, Sonicon focused on 3 core pillars that support safer and more efficient road projects:
1. Structural Assessment Before Intervention
Using advanced non-destructive technologies such as Xradar™ enhanced concrete scanning, we demonstrated how hidden reinforcement, voids, post-tension cables, and internal defects can be identified before cutting, coring, or strengthening works begin. Accurate data reduces risk, prevents structural strikes, and ensures safer execution.
2. Precision Concrete Cutting & Controlled Demolition
In road and bridge projects, uncontrolled demolition can lead to unnecessary vibration, structural damage, or operational disruptions. Our diamond cutting, wire sawing, hydro demolition, and robotic demolition solutions allow precise removal of concrete while protecting surrounding structures and maintaining safety standards.
3. Structural Repair & Strengthening
When existing infrastructure must adapt to higher loads or design modifications, strengthening becomes essential. We shared how techniques such as CFRP strengthening, structural enlargement, and targeted repairs can extend service life without full reconstruction to minimise downtime and reducing long-term costs.
Contributing to a Safer Infrastructure Ecosystem
The seminar’s objectives emphasised strengthening technical competency, encouraging innovation, and improving safety in road projects. These goals closely align with Sonicon’s commitment to supporting Malaysia’s infrastructure sector with data-driven, safety-focused solutions.
We are grateful for the opportunity to engage with industry professionals, exchange insights, and contribute to the conversation on building safer, stronger, more resilient road infrastructure to improve the lives of Malaysians.
