The Challenge
Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) embarked on a nationwide project to upgrade switchyards to meet the increasing demand for reliable power. However, many existing sites lacked detailed structural drawings, posing significant challenges for precise planning and execution. Understanding the structural integrity of building components, plinths, and foundations was crucial to ensuring safe integration of new components while minimizing operational risks.
Our Approach & Result
Sonicon deployed Xradar™ advanced concrete scanning technology across multiple PMU sites. Using non-destructive methods, we collected essential data, including structural dimensions, reinforcement details, and concrete compression strength. These findings were compiled into detailed reports, enabling TNB to accurately assess load-bearing capacities, structural vulnerabilities, and the necessary measures for safe and efficient upgrades.

Comprehensive reports were generated for TNB, providing actionable insights to guide their upgrade plans and mitigate risks during implementation.
